Bookmaking (Ages 6-8) – 2 hrs x 6 weeks
Bookmaking is an ancient craft that we will explore (think scrolls and Medieval treasure bindings), while adding modern twists. We will make books with tape bindings, ring bindings, treasure bindings, and even no bindings (hooray for the mighty accordion!). Collage, stamping, paint and illustration will fill these one-of-a-kind creations, some so tiny that they can fit into a matchbox. Other projects include: creating unique stamps for page embellishment, laminated bookmarks, and a collaborative zine – which we will publish! Enrollment limited to 8 per section.

Bookmaking (Ages 9-12) – 2 hrs x 6 weeks
Bookmaking is an ancient craft that we will explore, while adding many modern twists, learning the anatomy of the traditional book and moving forward from there. We will make soft cover sketchbooks with stitched bindings, string-bound and pocket accordions, watercolor books, and scrolls. Illustration, printing, stenciling, packing tape transfers, and collage will add depth and visual interest to these one-of-a-kind creations, some so tiny that they can fit into a matchbox. We will also work on independent and collaborative zines. Enrollment limited to 7.
