Drop-In Studio activities for January 2 – 4: What better way to ring in the new year than with pompom-making?! Turn them into festive necklaces, or attach them to key rings or backpack clips. Greet the snowstorm with snowflake making. We have decorative, plain and tissue papers to cut. We also have wooden craft sticks, craft wires, and tape for constructing them. Add the snowflakes to our igloo area or take ’em home. We are also collaging ‘piles of snow’ with glue, shredded paper and glitter. At the side benches we have sticker making and Play Shape blocks to play with. At the paint table we have a neat printmaking activity set up. With block printing ink, ink bubble wrap and corrugated cardboard for printing onto paper. Or carve into a styrofoam piece with a blunt pencil and print with that. Brushes are at the easel. Space play dough is at the sensory table. On the back wall we’ve made circular geoboards – make designs with rubber bands. We will photograph them and print them out for display.
